Wideband switchable linear polarization rotator based on metasurface

The realization of dynamic polarization rotation based on the metamaterial or metasurface is always a concerned issue in electromagnetic manipulation. In this Letter, transmission-type switchable proposed, which can rotate linear polarized (LP) wave to arbitrary angle among ±45° wide frequency band. (PRM) consists conversion surface and partially reflective surface. By controlling resistances PIN diodes, PRM change transmitted LP wave. To verify design, prototype proposed fabricated tested, simulated measured results are good agreement. According results, fractional bandwidth at each state larger than 20.4%. overlapping operational band from 3.03 3.60 GHz, where transmission coefficient remains higher –2 dB, axial ratio 15 dB. design may have application potential target detection, wireless communication, polarimetric imaging.
